Sometime in the middle of my recent week in Somerset, the rain set in, so I made a trip to the town of Frome for some retail therapy. It seemed like the thing to do on a wet day. Of course I took the camera of choice with me – the trusty Nikon F3. IContinue reading “Frome on a Wet Day”

Glastonbury Tor
Another day out with the Nikon F3, this time loaded with some Kodak Color Plus, dated Nov 19, but compared to some film I’ve used – that’s fresh as a daisey! The Tor is a natural hill that towers just over 500 feet (158m) over the surrounding Summerland Meadows, part of the Somerset Levels. ItContinue reading “Glastonbury Tor”
From the Past
About a month ago we had a patch of beautiful weather, so on my day off, I made the very short trip to the village of Tolpuddle, famous for it’s martyr’s who set the foundation for the modern day trade unions. I’ll write more about them in a future post. On this day I hadContinue reading “From the Past”
Canon at Cheddar
A couple of weeks back, I had a week long vacation in Somerset, and stayed in the small village of Draycott, close to Cheddar. Most famous world wide for the cheese of course, but maybe second for the Gorge. I believe it to be the largest in Britain. I’ve been before, but staying so closeContinue reading “Canon at Cheddar”
Processing Day
I’ve been busy processing today! I think I mentioned that I’ve been away for a week’s holiday, and for the first time in ages, not taken a digital camera with me – only film. The colour I sent to the lab first working day I was back, in fact that’s all back, although scanning willContinue reading “Processing Day”
Pictures of film!
Just got back from a weeks holiday in sunny Somerset. I visited many interesting places and had some great days out, the above is the stash of film shot, ready for processing and scanning! Work to do… I also took another quick picture recently, just for fun/memories. I came across an old 126 cassette whichContinue reading “Pictures of film!”
Black and White in Wales
I haven’t posted much black and white for a while, and if I’m honest I think I prefer black and white to colour on the whole. Anyway, a delve back into my archive, which in reality, when it comes to film, is a collection of neg files in an old suitcase, takes me to “filmContinue reading “Black and White in Wales”
Brutal Architecture
I wouldn’t want to live in it, I’m not even sure I’d want to live too near it, but there is something that amazes me about this combination of black and white photography and architecture. I feel often like I’m in a movie! I do like it.
Out and About with the Mju!
A couple of posts ago I wrote about my mini Olympus Collection, I’ve now put a roll of film though each, and first off was the Mju II. It’s a camera that hit the streets in 1997, towards the end of the 35mm cameras from Olympus – a year earlier the Camedia C400 had beenContinue reading “Out and About with the Mju!”
Montacute House in Portra
Montacute House stands in Somerset, it’s a National Trust property and described by them as a “masterpiece of Elizabethan Renaissance architecture and design”. It’s building was completed in 1601 but by 1931 it was offered for sale as scrap, and it was then that it became one of the trusts first major houses. Sir EdwardContinue reading “Montacute House in Portra”
