Pic-a-day #2
A stone with grass, stands in the River Lyd, a couple of miles up-stream from the town of Lydford. Behind Great Links Tor.
Pic-a-day #1
Widgery Cross, was built by William Widgery to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887. It stands on Brat/Widgery/Bray Tor, not far from the town of Lydford. Quite a climb to the top, that required me to stop more than once! Pan-F is go!
An exhibition at Mottisfont
Much of what is seen today at Mottisfont, is the work and creation of Gilbert and Maud Russell, who brought the house in 1934 from the then owner. They both restored and changed the house. During the WWII Gilbert died and Maude moved to London to work for the admiralty. It is thought offering translationContinue reading “An exhibition at Mottisfont”
Blue Sky!
A nice bright sunny morning combined with a day off has been a rarity in recent times. I had to make the most of it so jumped in the car and drove the short distance to Kingston Lacy, our local National Trust property. February is always busy as it’s “Snowdrop Time”. This year I missedContinue reading “Blue Sky!”
A solo photo of a solo flower
I’ve lost my photography mojo! About the time of the start of Covid I purchased a “Peace Lilly” from the local garden centre, where I typically have breakfast once a week. It out grew the pot and I had to split it. Another couple of years and repeat – I now have 5! So farContinue reading “A solo photo of a solo flower”
Phone/Blog
My posts have slipped from being one every two days to longer intervals. This is not a deliberate decision. I’ve done much less photography this winter, especially film, in fact in the last two months I’ve only shot two rolls – unheard of for me! The weather has been very wet and dull in theseContinue reading “Phone/Blog”
AI and the stupidness of it.
Bolstered by the non-success of my new laptop, I’ve now proceeded to purchase a phone, or is it a camera or a paperweight? The new laptop is up and running, and I’m typing on it now. That seems fine. Of course I can’t switch it on or get to any programmes or do anything usefulContinue reading “AI and the stupidness of it.”
Leake Street Arches
I’ve just come back from a week in London! More about that in other posts, but today I wanted to share a discovery I made. Underneath Waterloo Station runs what could be called an underpass or tunnel, I think actually it’s a road and it’s known as “Leake Street Arches”. It has it’s own websiteContinue reading “Leake Street Arches”
A few more from Ringwood
A post or two ago I shared some photo’s of steam engines and the steam train I came across as I stumbled my way into the Ringwood carnival. Today I thought I’d share a few more, but this time mainly of people – with a couple of exceptions. All of these were taken with anContinue reading “A few more from Ringwood”
