What is a “Sang”? What is Kodak Pro Image 100 like? I visit one to find out! Having never tried this film I purchased a roll a while back, it sat in my “film to use” box and finally I’ve gotten around to using it! Apparently it’s been manufactured by Kodak since 1997 (Analogue Wonderland),Continue reading “Kodak Pro Image 100: One Roll Try”

Single Photo: Saqsaywaman
In Peru, at altitude of just over 12,000 feet stands the Citadel of Saqsaywaman (also known as Sacsayhuamán. It overlooks the city of Cuzco below to the south. General consensus is that it was built in the 15th Century, although signs of habitation of the hill top date right back to around 900CE. It wasContinue reading “Single Photo: Saqsaywaman”
Single Photo: Butterfly Past
Almost exactly 18 years ago I made the image above. It seems like a few months ago! For those who like the “chatter” it was at ISO 100 f5 at a 60th sec, with a Canon EOS 20D. Why I went on to spend literally thousands on not one but three successive full frame SLR’sContinue reading “Single Photo: Butterfly Past”
Single Photo: Felsenreitschule
You all know the building above, you may not recognise it, but you do! This was once a quarry, much of the stone used to build nearby Salzburg Cathedral. When finished the area was turned into a riding school – “Felsenreitschule” means rock riding school. So the nobility could watch in comfort, 96 arcades onContinue reading “Single Photo: Felsenreitschule”
A Space for Nature
… after the last post – less words, just pictures.
Single Photo: Austria
One day up a mountain in Austria, I stood with my Panasonic G6, 75-150mm attached, admiring the view when this fellow launched himself. As he circled I made the photo above. I made two others but this is the one where the background mountains are “just right” – or rather I liked them. I thinkContinue reading “Single Photo: Austria”
Single Image: The Rocket Garden
I made this photo while on a trip to Kennedy Space Port, Florida in 2007. I used my Canon EOS20D with the standard kit lens 18-55mm. f10 at 250th, ISO was set at 100, and I used the 18mm focal length. I can tell you this as the camera recorded the info along with theContinue reading “Single Image: The Rocket Garden”
Frosty Walk with the 5D
I find the grey and dullness of this time of the year a challenge mentally. I never used to even think about it when I was younger, but I would say that the last 5 years or so, I find it demotivating. When I’m at work I rise about 7am, and this morning it mayContinue reading “Frosty Walk with the 5D”
From the 5D to the 5D
20 Years ago (October 2005) Canon released the “original” 5D into the world. Back then it was a big deal – but let me re-wind a little. When I worked in the camera store, I changed cameras often. When a second-hand camera came in, if I hadn’t tried one of its type before, I’d oftenContinue reading “From the 5D to the 5D”
Single Photo: Night Sky
About a week ago I was finishing work, just about in “magic hour” which in my experience is half an hour if your lucky! I looked up and saw the crescent moon, against the sky with just enough light to record as blue (rather than black). Very close by was Jupiter, easily within the frame.Continue reading “Single Photo: Night Sky”
