Liverpool has the 3 graces, Dorchester has this trio of buildings. From left to right, the Dorset Museum, St Peter’s Church and the Corn Exchange with it’s clock tower. The problem photographically is that it’s impossible to photograph them all in one image – sort of!
The other day I had chance to make a few exposures with a Samyang 8mm fisheye lens. It’s mount was Canon EOS, so I made a few shots with an EOS 650D (Rebel 4Ti in the US). For such a specialized lens it’s in-expensive. Although the “EF” mount is auto focus the lens is not. This is no major problem as, with a half decent aperture, and such a wide perspective the depth of focus is huge! I set the lens to Infinity. Also unlike other EF lenses, the afore mentioned aperture is manual.
Greatly enlarged it’s true, but none the less it produces some impressive colour fringing, towards the ends of the wide length, although none I could see near the centre. To a degree I suppose that’s to be expected. As I said it’s not an expensive lens and does deliver an impressive view – my opinion is that it’s the sort of lens one may buy, use a fair bit, and then quite quickly get tired of! Now a Widelux on the other hand! (Anyone got Jeff Bridge’s phone number?)
