A few posts back I wrote about my Mini Olympus Collection – such as it is. I’ve since put a roll roll through the Mju II, this time it’s the turn of the original Trip 35. I thought I’d have a go at dating mine, the most accurate way is to remove (un-clip) the pressureContinue reading “Out and About with the Trip 35”

Hasselblad Past
Once upon a time I owned a Hasselblad! I had fancied one for ages, and eventually I could afford one, just. I guess they were at rock bottom prices in the early 90’s. I caught an advert in the classified adds in Amateur Photographer, phoned up, discovered that it was only about 25 miles away,Continue reading “Hasselblad Past”
Canon Sureshot Supreme
Not that I need yet another 1980’s compact film camera but you know me and a bargain! This one I picked up for just £5 in a charity/thrift store – complete with it’s case. it’s one of those cameras that when I was in my early teens would have loved, and I must admit amContinue reading “Canon Sureshot Supreme”
Olympus Collection
I don’t claim to be a camera collector but an amateur photographer. Despite this I seem to amass cameras none the less. I now have a set of three, Olympus compact 35mm cameras, that span the ages, and make an interesting line up. The original trip 35 was introduced in 1967, aimed at the pointContinue reading “Olympus Collection”
Zeiss 6X6 Folder
A new (old) camera has been donated to my retirement home for photographic stuff! It’s a Zeiss Ikon 517/16. I have little experience with folders, so was keen to try it out. My first surprise was how smooth it opened and closed – in the past cameras I have tried like this, have needed helpContinue reading “Zeiss 6X6 Folder”
Olympus AF10
There is little that is special about the Olympus AF10, it’s a straight forward point and shoot camera. It has a 35mm f3.5 lens that is nice and sharp and doesn’t seem to noticeably vignette at the corners. It is DX coded but only to 4 points, rather like zone focus in DX terms. SoContinue reading “Olympus AF10”
Nikon F3
I’ve been involved with photography for over 40 years, and this is the first Nikon I’ve purchased! Strange you may think, well yes, but that’s how it is! I suspect that the main reason is the simple fact that as a young person, we had four “camera” stores in my home down, but not oneContinue reading “Nikon F3”
Konica Hexar AF
The Konica Hexar AF is a wonderful, small, 35mm film camera. It’s motorised but does have a “silent” mode, if you find yourself in a nice quiet church or museum. It’s auto focus, but has a focus lock should you require. It has a wonderful sharp f2 35mm lens. It does not have a builtContinue reading “Konica Hexar AF”
Rolleicord Va
I heard a voice in my head “buy me, buy me!”, I hear it often when I’m on West Yorkshire Cameras web site! This time it was a Rolleicord Va that was calling me. I’ve owned a Rolleiflex 28a before and I was impressed by the camera in all aspects except the focus screen wasContinue reading “Rolleicord Va”
Kodak Retinette 1b
I’ve done it again, although I’m not quite sure why! Yes, I’ve brought another Kodak Retinette, this time the 1b. It’s in nice condition, and the lens is good and clean, always an attraction, but with this one the bright line viewfinder is off – way off! It’s lop sided, which I made a prettyContinue reading “Kodak Retinette 1b”
