This post is a trip down (camera) memory lane! It is prompted directly from reading the “Fogdog” blog written by John Smith. Have a read of his post “Big Cameras“! It prompted me to dig out a few old photo’s of me in my “movie days”! The above is me whilst filming Prince Charles (asContinue reading “Not all my cameras have been small!”

Spring has Sprung
We’ve had bit’s of patchy sunshine here and there over the last week and it’s encouraged some of the spring flowers to burst open. It’s a pleasant relief to see some blobs of colour! I pottered out into the back garden, XT5 in hand, with the XF18-55 on. It’s effectively the “kit” lens of theContinue reading “Spring has Sprung”
More from the XA2
I’ve been decidedly un-inspired these last couple of weeks! It’s been dull and dismal, and it’s effected my mood. To combat this I decided to load a roll of film into the little Olympus XA2 and keep it with me. What that means in practice is, it’s in my pocket as I walk back andContinue reading “More from the XA2”
Poole in XP2
A week or two ago I went for a walk around Poole, with my Canon EOS30, with the 50mm f1.4 attached. Loaded was a roll of Ilford XP2, that I processed in standard b/w chemistry. I was pleased with the results, and would happily home process XP2 again.
Heavy HP5
A few more from the out-dated roll of HP5, of un-known storage. This was the roll that when developed like the others turned out pretty heavy, and showed much more grain. That said for some of these images I don’t mind it too much! These images were all made with the Olympus XA2. I seemContinue reading “Heavy HP5”
Growth
Back on August 19th ’21, I made this photo of a Peace Lilly I’d recently purchased. I liked the shadows flowing from the bottom of the subject. It was one of my earlier posts. At some point it out-grew it’s pot, so I had to split it up and repot the bits. They grew! 1Continue reading “Growth”
Pylons
I just shot the last roll of my outdated HP5 batch. This one was un-boxed and I had no idea how it had been stored, it’s expiry date was 2008. I’ve had pretty good results, from the others, but I did wonder if I would get anything at all out of this one. In aContinue reading “Pylons”
Along the Harbourside
A few more images from my walk around Poole, with my 21 year out-of-date roll of XP2 in the Canon EOS 30. I have noticed that the focus with the older 50mm f1.4 is more “touchy” than my favourite 40mm STM. By touchy I mean I have to pay more attention! It was a dull,Continue reading “Along the Harbourside”
XP2 Super in B/W Chemistry
I had been given a small batch of film that was way out of date. I’ve dumped the colour, or rather the film in the cassettes and just using them to reload with bulk film. I’ve worked my way through the few rolls of HP5, and that left remaining 1 roll of Ilford XP2 Super,Continue reading “XP2 Super in B/W Chemistry”
Slop Bog
I am very lucky where I live, in that there are four or five nature reserves close buy. Slop Bog, is one of them. It is walking distance to get there, and although it is surrounded by road and housing (mostly) it can be a quiet oasis, certainly a “get away from it all” forContinue reading “Slop Bog”
