Chichester

Dolphin Hotel

Chichester is the only city in West Sussex, and has a population of about 30,000. I visited on a sunny day at the end of September. At it’s centre stands the Market Cross, from it radiate a cross of North, South, East and West Streets. I suspect these trace back to a Roman layout, although there is nothing to suggest there was much here before the Romans. This post of bit of a photo drop of some interesting buildings here that caught my eye why wondering around….

Edes House built for John Edes, a Maltster (!) in 1696

Above left, once a surgeons home, now an 8 bedroom hotel, also in North Street (centre) the council house completed in 1731, and right Nat West Bank in East Street, once home to London and County Bank founded in 1836. Merged with the London and Westminster Bank to form the London County and Westminster Bank. Then in 1970 after further mergers (including Parr’s Bank), it officially became part of the modern National Westminster Bank (NatWest). Still in it’s original building here in Chichester! Below St Olaves’ can speak fro it’self!

The Corn Exchange

There is also a Cathedral here, but that will be another post!

Chatter: As you know … For this series of posts I used the Canon EOS 30 with the Canon STM 40mm lens. I use this combo a lot! The film was, once again Foma 200, bulk loaded, although I’m nearing the end of this 30.5 meters already, especially with the help of this trip! Film developed at the kitchen sink in Barry Thornton’s (Metol) Two Bath developer, I’m liking the combination of the two! I give 5 mins on bath A and another 5 in B, the stop and fix in the usual way.
