There is a famous quote attributed to George V about Bognor, despite this I had a four night break there at the end of September. The weather was stunning, blue sky, sunshine but thankfully without that intense heat, perfect weather for wandering about looking at stuff and making photo’s. My hotel room was at one end of the sea front and looked down it’s length – first evening there, I couldn’t resist a walk up and down it’s length….

All of these photo’s are made with the Canon EOS 30 and the 40mm STM “pancake” lens, on Foma 200 film. In the realm of analogue photography all “cheap” stuff really!

I’m perfectly happy with the quality, these are relatively low resolution scans, the negatives are both sharper and hold more resolution than shown here. The film is good and I like it’s tones and contrast, it develops well and also lays pretty flat for scanning. That said, I have noticed that Foma does seem to have the odd defect in the emulsion here and there. It’s easy enough to spot out, but I have spotted four of them in the length of 3 36 exp films. Maybe enough to steer me towards Kentmere film rather than Foma for a cheaper alternative?

Bugg@r Bognor! 😄. An enduring quote but likely an apocryphal one sadly.
