Brean is in Somerset, the name is derived from (modern) Welsh (“Bryn”) for hill, and there’s certainly one of those here! I stopped here on my way from Burnham-on-sea, north along the coast to Weston-super-mare. Brean divides the two towns. The huge down, juts out into the Bristol Channel, and while the beach from BurnhamContinue reading “Brean, Somerset”

Epcot in the 90’s on Gold 100
I’ve been lucky enough to travel to Florida and Epcot Centre many times. I’ve actually lost count of how many trips I’ve made, but it must be 6 or 7. Over the visits I’ve used many cameras and formats – this time it was my little Samsung AF Slim, loaded with Gold 100. This imageContinue reading “Epcot in the 90’s on Gold 100”
Madeira 2019
In 2019 I made a trip to Madeira, it is an autonomous region of Portugal, one of two, the other being the Azores. This was my “digital period” – sort of. I still used film, but this was the lull of my usage and before I saw sense, and came back to it! On thisContinue reading “Madeira 2019”
Norway 1993
Continuing on from my post last week, Belgium in B/W, I arrived in Norway. I’d had such a great time, last time I was here that I was eager to return and this time I did with a 16mm Krasnagorsk camera, 8x 100ft loads of film, as well as my little Samsung Compact 35mm camera.Continue reading “Norway 1993”
Back to Belgium in B/W
In the late spring/early summer of 1993, I was off on my travels again. I’d had such a great time in Scandinavia a couple of years earlier, travelling around by train, that I decided I’d do it again! This time I took a 16mm movie camera with me, a Krasnagorsk. I had 2 x 400ftContinue reading “Back to Belgium in B/W”
Scandinavia 1991 (pt2)
I travelled using my Eurorail rail card for under 25’s from Copenhagen across to Stockholm, Sweden. What a lovely place! As someone who at this point was used to the muddle and grime of London, the clean air, space and open nature of Stockholm particularly struck me. I wandered about, visited the Old Town (GamlaContinue reading “Scandinavia 1991 (pt2)”
Scandinavia 1991
No – I haven’t gone mad, I know Paris isn’t in Scandinavia! but every story has a start. Back in 1991, I had decided that I wanted to go to Europe again, but this time head north to Scandinavia. I discovered that I could buy a “Euro Train Pass” for under 25’s and the priceContinue reading “Scandinavia 1991”
Florida 1990
So enthralled with the USA was I, that by the end of summer 1990 I had decided and booked a trip to “the other side” Florida. The whole experience was different to California. I had booked my trip with Virgin Holidays. The flight and arrangements were brilliant, at every stage it was easy. I flewContinue reading “Florida 1990”
California 1990 (Pt2)
Ticket in hand, I found myself at the Greyhound bus terminal in San Francisco as one does! I’m told it’s moved these days, but back in 1990 it was a bit run down it has to be said! The décor wasn’t my problem though. Apparently the bus drivers were out on strike and the wholeContinue reading “California 1990 (Pt2)”
California 1990
New decade new direction, and so it was in 1990 that I set foot in the USA for the first time! I flew from London to Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, got off the plane, bundled into a mini bus with British folk singer Roger Whittaker, “Oh Hello” says me somewhat dazed. “Hello! Nice to meetContinue reading “California 1990”
