I haven’t posted much black and white for a while, and if I’m honest I think I prefer black and white to colour on the whole. Anyway, a delve back into my archive, which in reality, when it comes to film, is a collection of neg files in an old suitcase, takes me to “filmContinue reading “Black and White in Wales”

Out and About with the Trip 35
A few posts back I wrote about my Mini Olympus Collection – such as it is. I’ve since put a roll roll through the Mju II, this time it’s the turn of the original Trip 35. I thought I’d have a go at dating mine, the most accurate way is to remove (un-clip) the pressureContinue reading “Out and About with the Trip 35”
Epcot in the 90’s on Gold 100
I’ve been lucky enough to travel to Florida and Epcot Centre many times. I’ve actually lost count of how many trips I’ve made, but it must be 6 or 7. Over the visits I’ve used many cameras and formats – this time it was my little Samsung AF Slim, loaded with Gold 100. This imageContinue reading “Epcot in the 90’s on Gold 100”
Brutal Architecture
I wouldn’t want to live in it, I’m not even sure I’d want to live too near it, but there is something that amazes me about this combination of black and white photography and architecture. I feel often like I’m in a movie! I do like it.
Out and About with the Mju!
A couple of posts ago I wrote about my mini Olympus Collection, I’ve now put a roll of film though each, and first off was the Mju II. It’s a camera that hit the streets in 1997, towards the end of the 35mm cameras from Olympus – a year earlier the Camedia C400 had beenContinue reading “Out and About with the Mju!”
Hasselblad Past
Once upon a time I owned a Hasselblad! I had fancied one for ages, and eventually I could afford one, just. I guess they were at rock bottom prices in the early 90’s. I caught an advert in the classified adds in Amateur Photographer, phoned up, discovered that it was only about 25 miles away,Continue reading “Hasselblad Past”
Canon Sureshot Supreme
Not that I need yet another 1980’s compact film camera but you know me and a bargain! This one I picked up for just £5 in a charity/thrift store – complete with it’s case. it’s one of those cameras that when I was in my early teens would have loved, and I must admit amContinue reading “Canon Sureshot Supreme”
Montacute House in Portra
Montacute House stands in Somerset, it’s a National Trust property and described by them as a “masterpiece of Elizabethan Renaissance architecture and design”. It’s building was completed in 1601 but by 1931 it was offered for sale as scrap, and it was then that it became one of the trusts first major houses. Sir EdwardContinue reading “Montacute House in Portra”
Olympus Collection
I don’t claim to be a camera collector but an amateur photographer. Despite this I seem to amass cameras none the less. I now have a set of three, Olympus compact 35mm cameras, that span the ages, and make an interesting line up. The original trip 35 was introduced in 1967, aimed at the pointContinue reading “Olympus Collection”
Aircraftsman Ross-a walk
Aircraftsman Ross had other names, as T.E Shaw he made his home in Dorset, his real name was Thomas Edward Lawrence, the world knows him as Lawrence of Arabia, and this is a walking trail named in his honour. It begins at the Tank museum in Bovington Dorset, where he worked for a time asContinue reading “Aircraftsman Ross-a walk”
