Over the decades I seem to have aquired so much stuff, that these days I seem to be constantly striving to… buy nothing more, use up what I have, sort out, tidy up, charitize and dump stuff. “Nature abhors a vacuum”, or it certainly does around here! On yet another “what the hell’s in this box” moment, I came across a 8mm film splicer (dumped) 2 books (charitized) and an un-opened roll of Konica Infrared Film. On seeing it’s expiry date was Feb 1992 it took no time to decide that I wouldn’t bother trying to use it. I did however open it up!
This was back in the day when manufacturers popped a little “info sheet” into the box with the film, on that incredibly wafer thin paper! Before I dumped it, I thought I’d scan it for posterity!

It is a very slow fil, it may well have kept as well as your old FP4 has, develop it in something with a bit of Benzo in it or some other anti fog ingredient and you might be pleasantly surprised. If not – chuck it on eBay, I’ll bet you’d make a tenner, easy!
i fully het the declutter idea, I am exactly the same – and I have some expired Konika IT too!

Hello! I know I know! I hate the idea of film being dumped too and I’ve used my fair share of out dated stock, some good (FP4 Movie) some really bad (Kodak Colour Plus) – I even got images out of HP3 once, and yes I do mean HP3 lol. Trouble is, I have no IR filter, and I’m certainly not buying one for a one roll test. It’s was dated 1992, so 34 years out of date, and while I do have some Potassium Bromide that may have helped, it’s all experiment. I’m at a point where I have limited time to make photo’s, so when I can I like to be sure I’m going to get results. So the film is gone – all 24 exposures, the cardboard re-cycled but the cassette and plastic pot will be re-used and filled with some other B/W film, I know I can trust! Konica ir750 was one of my favourite film stocks. On a nice sunny day with an R25 filter it could give really good results. Wish I had a brick of the 120, think I have a roll of 35mm in the freezer.

Hello! Closest I’ve got to using IR was the Ilford SFX, and even that wasn’t with an IR filter. I’ve recently used more Ortho film, and while I quite like it, I still prefer good old FP4 Plus! I think if I was going to go to the effort of IR, then I’d treat myself to a couple fresh rolls and the R72 filter. Always nice to have a brick of any film in the fridge – so many possibilities!! Hi Dave! I was tempted but at the moment I don’t have as much time for photography as I’d like anyway, so when I do go out, these days, I’m looking to “make photo’s” rather than experiment. Perhaps more to the point, I don’t have an R72 filter, I do have quite a bit of 120 regular (in date) film to use however so I’m concentrating my efforts on 120 this summer – more on that to follow!!
