I found myself photographing a tiger the other day, as one does! More on that, and my surprise in a future post. The age old problem of course are the bars between him and me! Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad they were there, or was I? More on that too! The photo was asContinue reading “Ai – Create, Edit or Invent”

Goodbye Nikon / Hello Nikon!
I wouldn’t say that I’ve been depressed recently, but I’ve been feeling a bit low. My right knee is giving me trouble, slightly better today. My left shoulder has been very painful for a day or two, I noticed I couldn’t put my arm behind my back. That’s much better than it was, so IContinue reading “Goodbye Nikon / Hello Nikon!”
Single Photo: Mother and Child
There’s much wrong with this image. The mother needs to be better separated from the background on the right hand side. That could be improved with a better scan, and a little photoshop levels. It’s an old scan. It’s not pin sharp, again a better scan would help a bit. It’s slightly on a “wonk”Continue reading “Single Photo: Mother and Child”
Sundry Saturday!
I’m always reading things about photography in all of it’s many and varied aspects. Hardly a day goes by when I don’t think to myself “I never knew that” or “oh that’s why that is so” or “oh that’s why….”. This is a sample from this last week! DX Coding. Well we all know aboutContinue reading “Sundry Saturday!”
Thoughts on “Fas”
Bit of a change of a post for today! This one will be filed under “Thoughts on..” ! I doubt there is anyone reading my little blog who doesn’t know of and hasn’t looked in on, Jim Grey’s “Down the Road” blog. If you haven’t – you should! Every Saturday he posts a recommended readingContinue reading “Thoughts on “Fas””
Single Photo: Traction Engine Wheel
I made this image last weekend. It’s no award winning photo, but I am rather pleased with it. Apart from anything else it could be a demonstration: To anyone who say’s film (analogue photography) is too expensive, or even worse, a bit elitist, it was made with a Nikkormat FT2, made in the 70’s asContinue reading “Single Photo: Traction Engine Wheel”
Social Media and me
Several years ago I looked at Facebook. Friends and colleagues were always amazed that I still wasn’t there. I looked, frankly thought what a load of **ap, and passed. There was just such a lot of rubbish there. A few years later, I had seen a programme featuring the photographer Stephen Shore, and that heContinue reading “Social Media and me”
Cars, Cameras and Classics
A few things have come together over the last couple of weeks that have got me thinking. So this is one of those “Andy Thinks” posts – so beware! Cameras are like cars! Occasionally I walk past a parked car that is in terrible condition, and I wonder how it’s got through it’s MOT, forContinue reading “Cars, Cameras and Classics”
A Photowalk
Nothing new to see here! Sometimes I like to just load up a roll of film, take the camera with me, wherever I’m going, and make a few photo’s here and there of what I like and catches my eye. This time I took with me my Spotmatic – I have two, the SP andContinue reading “A Photowalk”
Single Photo: Butterfly Past
Almost exactly 18 years ago I made the image above. It seems like a few months ago! For those who like the “chatter” it was at ISO 100 f5 at a 60th sec, with a Canon EOS 20D. Why I went on to spend literally thousands on not one but three successive full frame SLR’sContinue reading “Single Photo: Butterfly Past”
