Portsmouth Town Hall was designed by William Hill, it opened in 1890. In 1926 Portsmouth was granted city status and so it became the Guildhall. During the second world war more than one incendiary bomb fell on he building, and it was gutted with only the outer, fire damaged walls remaining. After the war it was re-built and restored and the building that stands today was re-opened by the queen in 1959.

Just around the corner is the equally impressive World War 1 Cenotaph.

To finish a couple of random images – things that caught my eye.. Above left brollys in the shopping centre, above right Portsmouth Grammar School and below, the Portsmouth and Southsea railway station!

Chatter: For this series of posts I used the Canon EOS 30 with the Canon STM 40mm lens. I use this combo a lot! The film was, once again Foma 200, bulk loaded, although I’m nearing the end of this 30.5 meters already, especially with the help of this trip! Film developed at the kitchen sink in Barry Thornton’s (Metol) Two Bath developer, I’m liking the combination of the two! I give 5 mins on bath A and another 5 in B, the stop and fix in the usual way.
