After the roll of XP2 I used up in Bristol Cathedral I loaded in a roll of Kentmere 200 and wandered down to the docks. Kentmere 200 is a film that I’ve decided I like. Quality wise it seems to me, to fit in comfortably between Foma 200 and FP4. This roll I developed inContinue reading “Bristol Docks”

Single Photo: Bow of SS Great Britain
I made this image of the bow of SS Great Britain while I was in Bristol a few weeks back. It’s on HP5 and I developed it in D23, a combo that I like – it keeps the grain under control. It was made with a 24mm lens, as it’s not possible to get backContinue reading “Single Photo: Bow of SS Great Britain”
IKB @ Bristol
I recently had a day in Bristol. The last time I drove in Bristol I swore I would never drive there again, my blood pressure wouldn’t stand the abysmal signage, one way systems and generally appalling layout. With that in mind, I went in by train. Bristol is in many ways Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s town.Continue reading “IKB @ Bristol”
Last of Coventry
After the wander around the Coventry Transport Museum, time was getting on and I was getting tired! I’ve learned to call it a day when that happens. With a few frames left I finished off my roll of HP5 on a couple of exposures of the Whittle Arch – named after Sir Frank Whittle, inventorContinue reading “Last of Coventry”
Coventry (new) Cathedral
For those of you who have been following this blog for a while, will know that I have along term project of photographing the UK’s Anglican Cathedrals, on Ilford’s XP2. As this was my first visit to Coventry I couldn’t miss the Cathedral so make a visit. I was tempted to say, and my initialContinue reading “Coventry (new) Cathedral”
Coventry Old Cathedral
Coventry has had three Cathedrals. The first was St Mary’s, this was monastic and destroyed in the dissolution of the monasteries in 1539. There are few remains. Next came St Michaels, built in the 14th century but not designated a cathedral until 1918. St Michaels was destroyed in the “Coventry Blitz” on 14th November 1940,Continue reading “Coventry Old Cathedral”
Single Photo: Mill Gardens
Sitting in the River Avon in Warwick is this chunk of Old Castle Bridge, a medieval, 14th century bridge that was partly demolished, just to create a romantic folly. There were originally 11 arches. The “new” bridge was build a little up-stream in the 1780’s. Snapped with my Canon EOS 30 with the 40mm STM,Continue reading “Single Photo: Mill Gardens”
Inside Warwick Castle
Continuing on from my last post I ventured inside! There was nothing to say that one could, I just assumed! Like wise this lovely doorway (Left) I made the image, went up the stairs, door locked, not the way in! Another door, around the corner equally not marked was indeed the way in. Then aContinue reading “Inside Warwick Castle”
Warwick Castle
Well as mentioned in my last post, I’m back from a long week-end “up north”! People in the north would call it the midlands! In today’s post – Warwick Castle. I visited on the first day, on my way to the hotel. I made some photo’s on both Kodak Tri-X and HP5, with my CanonContinue reading “Warwick Castle”
Single Photo: Mother and Child
There’s much wrong with this image. The mother needs to be better separated from the background on the right hand side. That could be improved with a better scan, and a little photoshop levels. It’s an old scan. It’s not pin sharp, again a better scan would help a bit. It’s slightly on a “wonk”Continue reading “Single Photo: Mother and Child”
