Anyone who has been involved with photography for long enough in the UK will have come across one of the blue, two tone, boxes like the one to the left. The Butterfield Photographic Manufacturing Co (B.P.M.) made slide copiers, adaptor rings, and just about anything where photography and metalwork met. I just tried what theyContinue reading “Extreme Close Up”

Canon EOS 20D
I don’t often write about digital cameras here, that is because my main interest is film photography. There are some exceptions, and the Canon 20D is one of them. Why? Well because I had one, it was my first digital SLR, and it made an impact. Over the course of three trips, I went fromContinue reading “Canon EOS 20D”
Sprinkles in the Mini 12!
No I haven’t gone mad, or perhaps I have? If I have, would I know? Either way I just had a birthday, and there was a get together! I decided it was a good opportunity to have a play with a Fuji Mini Instax, specifically the Mini 12 in Lilac. Nothing better to load inContinue reading “Sprinkles in the Mini 12!”
Olympus OM2n (1979)
I wrote about my Olympus OM1 not too long ago. That prompted me to dig out my Olympus OM2n and run a film through that too! It’s a classic for sure, many film users have one. For the record the original “2” was released in 1975. It’s claim to fame is that is was theContinue reading “Olympus OM2n (1979)”
Rolleiflex SL35E (1978)
I enjoy using my rangefinder cameras very much but deep down I think I’m more of a SLR guy truth be told. Some of the rangefinder cameras I find clumsy to use, like the Canonette for example! I’ve yet to find an SLR that fit’s that category. Some SLR’s shine, the simplicity of the OlympusContinue reading “Rolleiflex SL35E (1978)”
Nikkormat FT2 (1975/7)
The tank. If ever you wanted to go into combat and take out a few enemies by wielding this around you on the end of it’s strap – this would do the job! Years ago I dropped this on my foot, it bent the extended shutter release (reminds me of a miniature version on theContinue reading “Nikkormat FT2 (1975/7)”
Kodak 2D- It’s back!
For those of you who have been reading this blog for a while may remember I have slowly been having a go at restoring a Kodak 2D from 1947. This, or indeed anything like it, is nothing I’ve ever attempted before. Progress was tentative, but I gained a bit of experience as I went along.Continue reading “Kodak 2D- It’s back!”
Canonete (1961)
On paper the Canonete should be a wonderful camera. The main attraction of course is a 45mm f1.9 lens. The sleek top plate, a nice viewfinder, and a selenium cell meter around the lens that therefore compensated for filter factor exposure as it too would be looking through the filter – all good stuff. InContinue reading “Canonete (1961)”
Pentax Auto 110 (1978)
When you say 110 to most people, they think of very cheap, poor performance plastic cameras, with a flash one end, and a viewfinder the other. I had one of those back in the day, I still had it when I had progressed to the Zenith 11. I know this as I made a photoContinue reading “Pentax Auto 110 (1978)”
Ektar in the Zeiss Ikon
It’s been a while since I used any film in my Zeiss Ikon 517/16. I loaded up a roll of Kodak Ektar and set off on a glorious sunny day, for a walk around the local town of Wimborne Minster. No purpose other than to have a walk and make 12 images! I did discoverContinue reading “Ektar in the Zeiss Ikon”
