The Olympus OM4 is claimed to be the successor to the much loved OM2n, that I feel needs a little explanation as of course there is an OM3! The OM 4 was manufactured between 1983 and 1987, while the OM3 1983-86. The ‘4 is considered the successor as it’s an “auto” camera and offers aContinue reading “Olympus OM-4 (1983)”

Cameras used in 2025
I keep saying it, usually when I buy yet another camera, “I’m not a collector – I just like cameras”! I will use a film or two, enjoy learning a bit about them, and then write a post. I don’t like calling that a “test” – it’s not, it’s just me putting a roll ofContinue reading “Cameras used in 2025”
Poole with the Nikon FE2
You may remember that I took my Nikon FE2 out a couple weeks ago and wrote about that here. I kept walking over the town bridge, and along the quay. Above is the view from the bridge, and below (left) part of it’s lifting mechanism. This was a roll of HP5 that I developed inContinue reading “Poole with the Nikon FE2”
Nikon FE2 (1983)
The Nikon FE2 was manufactured between 1983 / 87, and as such is one of the newer SLR’s that I own. It’s contemporary to the FM2(n) which really has to be considered together alongside. To me it feels very much like a FM2, with a faster shutter! In fact the shutter speed on the FE2Continue reading “Nikon FE2 (1983)”
Winter Maintenance
You may have noticed that just recently posts around here have become a little less frequent. Nothing is amiss I’m pleased to report! I work in retail and the weeks leading up to Christmas are always manic as you can imagine! Of course the weather changes and my last couple of days off have beenContinue reading “Winter Maintenance”
Olympus TG-1 (2012)
I don’t share or write about digital much here. Ignoring the fact that of course every image here is digital when you see it! My main interest, I might even stretch to passion – is film or in 2020’s speak analogue. May I have a roll of analogue please? This post is a change, andContinue reading “Olympus TG-1 (2012)”
Four More from the Contessa
I finished off the roll of film in my Contessa with a walk around the neighbourhood. It was a nice day and I felt the need to get out and stretch my legs and move around a bit! The camera continued to perform well enough, and whilst I didn’t make and amazing images – IContinue reading “Four More from the Contessa”
Zeiss Contessa LK (1963)
Mention the word Zeiss and both camera collectors and photography enthusiasts ears prick up! Continue by saying 50mm f2.8 Tessar and you’ll have un-divided attention. Both come together in this camera, the Contessa LK, that was made only for a relatively short period – 1963-1965. I came across one recently and of course- I didn’tContinue reading “Zeiss Contessa LK (1963)”
Olympus Pen EE-3
The Pen series of cameras are well known and liked. Designed by the late, great Maitani Yoshihisa, the Olympus designer who gave us the OM, XA, and Pen cameras. What a legacy! I tried an EE-2 a couple of years back – you can read about that here: Olympus EE-2. This time however I’ve foundContinue reading “Olympus Pen EE-3”
Single Photo: Poole Harbour
I took my OM1 with the standard 50mm f1.8 Zukio lens on my usual walk around Poole. I used FP4 and developed it in FX55. It was a nice day weather wise, some good clouds in the sky, but blue sky and sunshine. It felt like one of those “last days of summer” type days.Continue reading “Single Photo: Poole Harbour”
