A while back I called in on the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Ringwood. I had a few shots left on a roll of FP4, so I figured I’d finish it off there. This building was built between 1853 and 1855, but there have been at least two earlier churches on the sameContinue reading “Church of St Peter and St Paul, Ringwood.”

35mm: Takumar Trek Pt6
You may remember in part 5 of this series I ended my walk by arriving in an industrial estate! Out on on the main road, and just a few yards on, stands “The Railway Pub and Kitchen”, a sure sign the railway was nearby. In fact the Ringwood station once stood right opposite. Now nothingContinue reading “35mm: Takumar Trek Pt6”
Pilford: Military
I have a feeling that at this years Pilford heritage Show, there were a few less military vehicles. I wonder if this is due to the cost of running this size of machine? I don’t really mean the “Willy’s Jeep” above but some of these beasts must guzzle diesel at a frightening rate! One orContinue reading “Pilford: Military”
The Tarrants: Pt5
As well as being a type of knot, and a moth(!) (Lycophotia Porphyrea), the Lovers True Knot is the pub that sits on the main road at Tarrant Keyneston. The B3082 is the main road from Wimborne to Blandford, two of the bigger towns in these parts. The road runs right in front of theContinue reading “The Tarrants: Pt5”
35mm: Takumar Trek Pt5
On the far South-East edge of Ringwood, the Castleman Trail ends. Or in my case, as I’m walking it the other way – starts. So far I’ve been on official paths across the New Forest, mostly on what was once the track bed of the railway, but none of it the “official” Castleman Trail. WhatContinue reading “35mm: Takumar Trek Pt5”
Kodak’s Zoom SUC
I recently came across a Kodak Single Use Camera called the “Zoom”. I don’t remember seeing one before. It had the film removed for processing, and it appears that the back is designed to fracture at a certain point to facilitate that happening. A deliberate weak spot to crack open. You can see below whereContinue reading “Kodak’s Zoom SUC”
Motorbikes at Pilford
While I was at the “Pilford Show” I also made a few photo’s of the motorbikes that caught my eye. A few of them had a run around the display ring too, but they were a little far off to get good photo’s with the 35mm lens. It was good to see some kids havingContinue reading “Motorbikes at Pilford”
The Tarrants: Pt4
In the last instalment of my “Tarrant” series, I’d reached Tarrant Rushton, and showed the church. The river un-surprisingly runs in the valley, but up on the plain above, not much higher, once stood RAF Tarrant Rushton. It was built between May 1942 and May 1943, and it’s main claim to fame is that HorsaContinue reading “The Tarrants: Pt4”
35mm: Takumar Trek Pt4
We last left the Castleman Trail, as it was crossed by Holmsley Passage, and a building that I suspected was once maybe a railway crossing house? It was also the location of the first little fragment of actual track seen so far. The image above is a typical view of the New Forest – myContinue reading “35mm: Takumar Trek Pt4”
Cars at Pilford
Pilford Heritage Show isn’t really a car show – it’s many things, but there are always a few interesting cars to make a few photo’s of. I’ve done a couple of quite “wordy” posts recently – so this, for a change, is going to be just a selection of images! Chatter: Ilford Delta 400, inContinue reading “Cars at Pilford”
