I’m coming towards the end of my stash of London images, you may be pleased to know! I have a few that I think work in their own right, that have no link they are just random images. As someone who used to make films once upon a time, that is one of the refreshingContinue reading “No Category”

Shad Thames
Shad Thames is the area just around the corner from the Tower Bridge in London. It’s an area which I’ve seen photo’s of before and wanted to visit for a while but never really had the excuse to go. This visit to London provided the opportunity. The area was once run down, I remember stickingContinue reading “Shad Thames”
Tower Bridge
Early on when I started to make super 8 films, edited and with a soundtrack for public consumption, I was offered much advice. Two nuggets that did stick with me were “Why make a film when a written paragraph will do the same job?” and “Don’t quote too many facts and figures, people won’t listenContinue reading “Tower Bridge”
Destination Docklands
I was here almost exactly 35 years ago. The Royal Victoria Docks was a very different place back then. Below is a grab from the film “Empire State” starring Martin Landau, that gives some idea. I was here for one of the “super-concerts” of the 1980’s staged by Jean Michel Jarre. Destination Docklands. I loveContinue reading “Destination Docklands”
London Cable Car
Ever since I heard of the London Cable Car, I’ve fancied a ride on it. It wasn’t here on my visit to the Millennium Dome back in the day, the only time I’ve been since was to a concert at the 02, but there was no time for exploring the area then. It’s 1km longContinue reading “London Cable Car”
Kew Palace
I was completely un-aware of Kew Palace, and it’s relevance until I visited. It was originally built for a wealthy silk merchant but came into royal hands during the rein of George II, who took out a lease on the house, and few others around. It was however the connection of George III for whichContinue reading “Kew Palace”
Olympian Way
There is an official Thames Path, it runs from the source of the river, right down to it’s mouth. A small portion of it seems to have another designation as the Olympian Way. I walked from Greenwich out to the Millennium Dome, along the south bank of the river. Give or take about 2 miles.Continue reading “Olympian Way”
End of year: 3 Cameras
As I sit typing this I’ve just put the Christmas cake in the oven, I have traditional carols playing quietly in the background from Alexa, and I’m sipping slowly on a glass of red. Life is good! To round out the year I thought I’d review my top three cameras. I did this last yearContinue reading “End of year: 3 Cameras”
Two parks in one!
The arch above is by Sir Henry Moore and stands in Hyde Park. From this view it looks across to Kensington Gardens. You might just make out Kensington Palace in the far distance. The Italian Gardens below are in Kensington Gardens, but the boundary between them and Hyde Park seems invisible, maybe divided by theContinue reading “Two parks in one!”
Reminders Everywhere
Directly opposite my hotel in London was a base for the London Ambulance Service. In the entranceway were three ambulances a recent model and two from years past. I had to make photo’s. I took a moment at this point. My father worked for the railway back in the 60’s but always wanted to workContinue reading “Reminders Everywhere”
