Coventry has had three Cathedrals. The first was St Mary’s, this was monastic and destroyed in the dissolution of the monasteries in 1539. There are few remains. Next came St Michaels, built in the 14th century but not designated a cathedral until 1918. St Michaels was destroyed in the “Coventry Blitz” on 14th November 1940,Continue reading “Coventry Old Cathedral”

Vertical Coventry
After my drive “up north”, visiting Warwick Castle, and getting to the hotel, I had a carvery dinner, then flopped out on the bed and watched the new version of Flight of the Phoenix on Film 4. In my opinion, not an improvement on the old version, but watchable enough. Next morning I was inContinue reading “Vertical Coventry”
Single Photo: Mill Gardens
Sitting in the River Avon in Warwick is this chunk of Old Castle Bridge, a medieval, 14th century bridge that was partly demolished, just to create a romantic folly. There were originally 11 arches. The “new” bridge was build a little up-stream in the 1780’s. Snapped with my Canon EOS 30 with the 40mm STM,Continue reading “Single Photo: Mill Gardens”
Inside Warwick Castle
Continuing on from my last post I ventured inside! There was nothing to say that one could, I just assumed! Like wise this lovely doorway (Left) I made the image, went up the stairs, door locked, not the way in! Another door, around the corner equally not marked was indeed the way in. Then aContinue reading “Inside Warwick Castle”
Warwick Castle
Well as mentioned in my last post, I’m back from a long week-end “up north”! People in the north would call it the midlands! In today’s post – Warwick Castle. I visited on the first day, on my way to the hotel. I made some photo’s on both Kodak Tri-X and HP5, with my CanonContinue reading “Warwick Castle”
Just got back!
I’ve just got back from my first trip of the year – just a short one to the City of Coventry. Very nice it was too. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to get away, so not only has it re-charged the batteries a bit, it’s also (hopefully) given me a bit moreContinue reading “Just got back!”
I’ve (re) Joined the Library!
The last time went in a library must have been 16 or 17 years ago. I like the idea of libraries, fully support their “mission”, but it’s not really on my radar. A couple of nights ago I had a look at one or two of my photo books, having thoroughly enjoyed that, inevitably IContinue reading “I’ve (re) Joined the Library!”
Olympus OM-4 (1983)
The Olympus OM4 is claimed to be the successor to the much loved OM2n, that I feel needs a little explanation as of course there is an OM3! The OM 4 was manufactured between 1983 and 1987, while the OM3 1983-86. The ‘4 is considered the successor as it’s an “auto” camera and offers aContinue reading “Olympus OM-4 (1983)”
A Cold Walk
The last day of 2025 was cold and icy, but with a clear sky, so I decided I would move myself, and get out for a walk. I went to the Avon Valley Country Park. It’s nearby, and easy. It’s quite a wet, heathland area, and as I pulled into the car park, I enteredContinue reading “A Cold Walk”

Happy New Year everyone! May this coming year be good to us all, may it bring peace, calm and joy and may we all make a bit of progress to loving our fellow humans, our planet and ourselves a bit more! It’s been a good year here on my little blog. Anything like this isContinue reading “Happy New Year Everyone!”
