Brighton has had three piers in it’s time. There was the Royal Suspension Chain Pier, opened in 1823, but destroyed in a storm in 1896. It’s replacement was the Brighton Palace Pier, which opened a couple of years later in 1899. That of course is still going strong! Between those two in time there was a third, the west pier, built in 1866. It closed to the public in 1975, suffered a major collapse in 2002, and a fire the following year left just the skeleton. There is now a West Pier Trust that looks after what remains.

Chatter: For this series of posts I used the Canon EOS 30 with the Canon STM 40mm lens. I use this combo a lot! The film was, once again Foma 200, bulk loaded, although I’m nearing the end of this 30.5 meters already, especially with the help of this trip! Film developed at the kitchen sink in Barry Thornton’s (Metol) Two Bath developer, I’m liking the combination of the two! I give 5 mins on bath A and another 5 in B, the stop and fix in the usual way.
