Single Photo: Sunflower Head/Orchid Leaf

Sunflower Head/Orchid Leaf

I grew 7 sunflower plants this year, 6 made it to maturity in the garden, all of them made over 6 feet tall, one randomly to at least 10 feet. Then we had a windy day, all was well except one, the cane holding it broke, and it fell. I chopped up the stalk and threw it in the compost bin. The head was so nice that I decided to pop it into water and have it’s last life on the kitchen window sill, before it joined it’s lower half! The plan is to leave the others to develop seed heads for the birds to munch on as autumn advances. This was the last frame on a roll of tri-x. Minutes later I was developing the film at the kitchen sink – this was my view!

Chatter: Canon EOS 30 with the 40mm STM. Kodak Tri-X developed in BTTB, (Barry Thornton Two Bath), 5mins each bath.
