I made the photo above while on a day visit to Exeter. Although I’ve been to Exeter many times over the years, this was the first time I’ve managed a visit to the gardens. I enjoyed a wander around and made a few photo’s here and there. I was using my Olympus XA2 loaded with some of my Ilford FP4 plus movie film that expired in 1998! I’m getting through the 400ft can, and have just bulk loaded the 3rd 100ft, or 30.5 meters if you prefer. Another 16 rolls in my stash! This roll was developed in D23 and I like the tones.
The park over looks the central railway station, and has a few interesting statues etc, but more about those in another post. What I didn’t realise until much later was the gardens incredible history: it claims to be the oldest public open space in the UK, being laid out in 1612! It was destroyed in the Civil War of 1642, and restored again in 1664!
