Greenwich Maritime Museum

A few yards away from the subject of my last post stands the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. It’s free entry, so I had a little wander. I guess this post could be entitled 5 from….

It seems strange to see a Kodak 127 Brownie, is a museum setting, temperature controlled et al. It was there to illustrate a “day out on the water” exhibit from a time when the camera was current. Opposite was this wonderful craft below.

The Ilford Delta 400 coped fine with the subdued soft light of the main hall, but in the smaller side galleries, light was much lower for the protection of the exhibits, with only one or two having good light levels. What may be the museums star exhibit, was in very low light – the coat Nelson was wearing when mortally injured during the Battle of Trafalgar, shot damage still visible on left shoulder. Even with a half second exposure and camera shake!
