Kew in Colour

Towards the end of my week in London, I took the tube out to Kew Gardens. It has it’s own tube stop! I like gardens and gardening and have wanted to go for ages – but never seem to have made it until now! It was a nice sunny day, and I was ready for a day off from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

I had two rolls of Kodak Gold 200 left from a triple pack, so I took them with me. I shot some images of the iconic palm house on Ilford Delta 400 first to finish that roll off, then I moved to colour. In many ways it was like “Back to the 80’s” – good old Gold 200 and a day out were made for each other!

It was a nice sunny day, but not overly hot, so as you can imagine the first thing that happened as I stepped into the tropics was everything steamed up, the camera lens, and my glasses too! I did nothing and just gave the glass a minute of two to warm up, wiped both, then good to go! On the Canon was the trusty 40mm STM, but you guessed that already right?

The higher up you go – the hotter and steamier it gets!!

I have lots of images of London to share in black and white, so for variation, I thought I’d intersperse them with “Colour for Kew” here and there. There was much more to Kew than I was expecting, I wish I had the other roll from the triple pack with me! More to follow!

  1. I’ve only visited Kew Gardens once, and it was part of a works team event so I didn’t get much chance to explore. I think that next time I visit London I might make the effort to see another part of the city away from the usual central areas.

    1. Hello! It was certainly a nice break from the hustle and bustle. I especially enjoyed the Princess of Wales greenhouse but was sad I completely missed the Bonsai exhibit! Still i gives me a reason for a repeat visit! All best wishes – Andy
