You may remember in my previous post “A few from Wimborne”, I mentioned that I cut the film half way through – well this is the other half! The following day I did a similar walk around the place, Pentax ME Super in hand, 50mm f1.4 mounted and finished off the Agfa APX 100. ThisContinue reading “A Few from Ferndown”

Rodinal 1+100 (No gain – more grain)
For those of you who have been following my recent developer mini tests, I tried Rodinal 1+100. Another clip of the same film, 20 degrees, this time 1+100, 30mins, (semi-stand) agitating for 30 seconds at the start. Another 15 secs at the 15 minute mark, then pour out at 30. Again the grain is worseContinue reading “Rodinal 1+100 (No gain – more grain)”
More Developer testing and a Wow!
Yes, that church again! I made another test! This time I have made up some FX55, the “Eco” (Vitamin C) developer created by the late, great, Geoffrey Crawley. It’s a two part developer, I found part A a doddle to mix, all the chemicals went into solution with ease. Part B was a different story,Continue reading “More Developer testing and a Wow!”
Rodinal, FP4 and Grain Reducer!
Last autumn I purchased my first ever bottle of Rodinal, Adonal, as made by Adox to be exact. Same recipe, give or take, different manufacturer. I liked the idea of it’s economy, and it’s legendary shelf life more. I had just returned from an autumn break to London where I’d shot quite a bit ofContinue reading “Rodinal, FP4 and Grain Reducer!”
Chemistry Again!
Four bottles, many uses! I’ve been having a mixing day today! Following on from my last post, one of the many useful suggestions on Pictorial Planet was a “Grain Reducer” for use with Rodinal – I have a bottle of Rodinal that I don’t much like, this might encourage me to give it another go,Continue reading “Chemistry Again!”
El Galeón Andalucía
I loaded another roll of my very out of date Ilford FP4 movie film that is now 26 years out of date! Set off with my Leica M4-P with only the 35mm lens, and did my usual walk around Poole in Dorset. I say usual although I haven’t done it for a few months! ToContinue reading “El Galeón Andalucía”
Hamworthy Park: A Hidden Gem
Hamworthy Park is adjacent to Poole and just off my normal walking route when I visit there. I’ve been to it before, but sort of forgot about it! I had reason to go again not too long ago, and thought I’d take my Zeiss Nettar 6×6 folder with me for a change. I haven’t usedContinue reading “Hamworthy Park: A Hidden Gem”
A Walk from Castle Drogo
Somewhere near the beginning of my trip down to Devon, I made a visit to Castle Drogo. Just visible in the falling rain in the image above. I may do a post about the castle itself at some point. It’s an interesting place, but for now I’ll just say it is the last castle toContinue reading “A Walk from Castle Drogo”
Okehampton Castle
Okehampton Castle is cared for by English Heritage. It was built shortly after the 1066 Norman Invasion, between 1068 and 1086 by Baldwin Fitzgilbert. Interestingly he was originally from Le Sap, a small town in Normandy where I once very nearly brought a small house! I digress – this is my “black and white post”,Continue reading “Okehampton Castle”
Widgery Cross
A couple of posts ago I wrote about the start of my walk up Brat Tor. If you wish, you can read that here. With a new roll of Ilford Pan-F Plus loaded, I made it to the summit. Widgery’s Cross was built in 1887 to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee by by William Widgery.Continue reading “Widgery Cross”
