I’m always reading things about photography in all of it’s many and varied aspects. Hardly a day goes by when I don’t think to myself “I never knew that” or “oh that’s why that is so” or “oh that’s why….”. This is a sample from this last week! DX Coding. Well we all know aboutContinue reading “Sundry Saturday!”

Social Media and me
Several years ago I looked at Facebook. Friends and colleagues were always amazed that I still wasn’t there. I looked, frankly thought what a load of **ap, and passed. There was just such a lot of rubbish there. A few years later, I had seen a programme featuring the photographer Stephen Shore, and that heContinue reading “Social Media and me”
Slop Bog #2
Slop Bog is perhaps not the most attractive or enticing title to grab a passing visitor. It is however a little local nature reserve that is protecting a small area of bog, where I have personally seen birds, deer, snakes and many varieties of insect. I enjoyed myself at the larger, and slightly further awayContinue reading “Slop Bog #2”
Notes from a darkroom!
Mini up-date of various “stuff”: I found an old darkroom blue spirit thermometer where the liquid had become separated, most likely from being laid flat. I consulted You Tube, which suggested heating it to combine the liquid again and then letting it cool. I tried this and blew the end off! It’s amazing how farContinue reading “Notes from a darkroom!”
Camera Review Page Updated!
Recently I’ve tried and written about several film cameras. There has been bit of a hiatus and I’m not at an end yet, in fact far from it! I have however up-dated the Camera Review Page, so that anyone who wishes, can get straight to the cameras!
Viewing Figures
I’m not that fussed about my viewing figures – I know that my little blog is small-fry so perhaps that’s just as well. That’s not to say I wouldn’t be pleased if I had double the figures – of course I would! What does please me however is to know that people from many countriesContinue reading “Viewing Figures”
My 12 Favourite Images of 2025
Here I present an amble backwards through 2025, I’ve selected what I think may be my favourite image of the month. I suspect that if I made this same choice in 6 months time it may be a different selection – but that’s life! Month refers to the month posted not when the image wasContinue reading “My 12 Favourite Images of 2025”
An Exciting Development… Coming Soon!
Roger Fenton (1819-1869), English photographer, worked from his portable ‘Photographic Van‘ during the Crimean War. Well it may be his van, but sat on it, is his assistant Marcus Sparling…
Retirement!
I developed a roll of Ilford Delta 120 this morning. The final part of my process is to add a few drops of wetting agent to the final rinse, let it soak for a couple minutes, then wipe and hang to dry. Today marked a milestone! I finally finished my bottle of Ilford Ilfotol. I’veContinue reading “Retirement!”
A solo photo of a solo flower
I’ve lost my photography mojo! About the time of the start of Covid I purchased a “Peace Lilly” from the local garden centre, where I typically have breakfast once a week. It out grew the pot and I had to split it. Another couple of years and repeat – I now have 5! So farContinue reading “A solo photo of a solo flower”
