I have long held the opinion that Agfa APX Film, is in fact Kentmere film. It says on the box in Black and Grey – That Agfa-Gevaert neither manufacture or guarantee this film. In other words “it’s nothing to do with us”! For support we should contact the distributor (Lupus Imaging and Media GmbH & Co KG in this case) or the manufacturer, then don’t tell us who that is! Simply “made in the UK” – so who makes black and white film in the UK?
Kentmere released a 200 speed film last year – and very good it is too – I like it! Guess what? Surprise surprise – Agfa now have a 200 speed film, to mis-quote Disney’s Aladdin “I think I might die of non-surprise!”.
Now don’t get me wrong – anything that furthers analogue, keeps the suppliers, distributors and dealers going is fine by me. I also like this film, whatever box it comes in. I just find it a little tiresome that there is so much re-branding of the same thing. Don’t even get me started on ECN2….
I encourage you to buy a roll of Kentmere/Agfa 200 if you have yet to try it – I rather like it’s blend of contrast, sharpness and grain, you might too!

Likewise, I’m pretty certain that Kentmere, Agfa APX, and Rollei RPX films are all identical stocks (the latter two rebranded Kentmere). It’s a little disappointing in terms of variety, but at least you can pick whichever brand is cheapest and know what you’re getting.
