Single Photo: The Fairy Tree

Ok so a “Single Photo” post with two photo’s – I know, I know! The colour photo to the left was made on Kodak Gold, with my Canon EOS 30 and the 40mm STM lens. It’s actually “The Fairy Tree”, at St Helens Duver, on the Isle of Wight. It’s one of those trees where people, who have usually lost someone close, feel the need to hang something or leave a painted pebble, in remembrance. Often very touching.

With this still in my mind, a few weeks later I came across the tree above in Black and White. This was made with the Hasselblad on Ilford Delta 100 developed in FX21. I immediately thought of the Fairy Tree on the Isle of Wight, not because there were mementos left, but because of it’s feel and location. It’s in a little dell of it’s own, a tiny stream running at it’s base, half protected by a stone wall, and old and grand. If ever there were fairies – this is where they’d live!
