It seems to have become a “thing” that when one buys a ticket to go in anywhere, it becomes a years pass! Winchester Cathedral*, Coventry Transport Museum and also here, the SS. Great Britain. This meant that as my visit was just within the year of my last visit, I had free entry, would have been rude not to take advantage! In I went. Thes images were made on HP5 rated at 400 ISO and developed in D23.

When ever I make any photo like the one above I immediately think of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis! Trouble is there is no scale. To give an idea, that thing in the lower middle bottom that looks like an egg box for 4 square eggs, I reckon I could sit on that cross-legged (but not while it’s moving!) and you’d be able to see all of me!
* I object to paying an entrance fee to ANY place of worship (I may have mentioned this before). In this case the “Church of England” is a very wealthy organisation. It has a “Central Services” Company! I understand that Churches and Cathedrals (and others) need a lot of money to keep the roof on, literally sometimes, and I am happy to donate, and do, but for me, as soon as you “charge an admission/entrance fee” it becomes a tourist attraction. Let’s not forget the debacle of, give or take £80,000 worth of shares in Wonga! A payday lender, the likes of which Archbishop Justin Welby was campaigning against, at the same time as the church having shares (since sold)!! Did Jesus not throw the money lenders out of the temple?
Rant over!! 🙂
