For a while now I’ve been looking at ‘zines. I’ve been getting a feel for the format, size, orientation, number of pages, quantity of photo’s, and so on. For what I have in mind I think the A5 format will be about right. The exact number of pages will be determined by the number of images I can edit down to. I’m thinking at this point that I may do a “run” of 100. Better to distribute them and get the work out there, than have “a load under the bed to get rid of”!
I think I have found a printer where the quality, price and usability of their website meets at a suitable level for my needs. My next task therefore is to sort out the images I want to use, and write the text I want!
I have, give or take, 50 years worth of photo making under my belt. I have 10’s of thousands of images. A tiny fraction of those are worth sharing, still masses for a ‘zine, and I want to get some of them out there!!
Watch this space!!!
Excited to see what you make!!

One of those in the picture is mine! 🙂
Good luck making your own, it’s nice seeing your work in print. I can recommend Mixam as a printer.

Hi Nige, yes, I know! 🙂 In fact it was one of your posts that lead me to the Impressions Gallery and a few zine purchases! Also by weird coincidence Mixam is the one saved in my favourites, I think it’s the printer I’ll go with! – Cheers Andy

Mixam have printed all the zines I’ve made and I’ve always been happy with the results. This reminds me – I need to send an invoice to the Impressions Gallery as they sold another copy of my zine (possibly the one you bought!). They also want to send me the two they have left unsold, so the return postage for those will probably wipe out any revenue. 😀

Luckily I’m not planning on this being a money making venture!!! 🙂 It may have been my purchase, although I’ve had yours a while, dating back to when you did a post about going to the event in Bradford (I think!!) – Cheers Andy
