Dorchester Bit’s & Bobs

People often say that if you have a dog, it’s good for you. You have to take it out for a walk, so it get’s you out and about in all weathers, whether you want to or not! I’m kind of the same but with photography. There are many times that I probably wouldn’t bother to go somewhere, but the idea, challenge or pleasure of photographing it gets me there.

Sometimes that’s a little encouraged, for example, following on from my last post, I recently took a family member to Dorchester Hospital. It was a 5 hour appointment for treatment, it’s too far to drive back home and go back and collect later, so I had that time to wander the streets of Poundbury and Dorchester. I wouldn’t have bothered except for the fact I had my recently serviced Olympus OM2n loaded with a roll Delta 100. That got the feet moving!!

Most of what I photographed you’ve seen here before, but of course things change. The clock above left was most famous for having 61 minutes in it’s north face (photographed is the south face!). It was restored and repaired since the last time I photographed it. The YMCA front I don’t think I’ve photographed before.

Down by the River a small local nature reserve has a boardwalk loop, while the “White Hart” strangely fenced in and almost caged, is marooned outside a block of apartments. They are built on the site of the old White Hart Inn. The stag once stood over the door. Without my camera I probably wouldn’t have bothered to walk around and take note of these things!

Chatter: Olympus OM2 with Zukio f1.8 50mm lens. Ilford Delta 100, developed in FX55.
