Being English I never played baseball, in fact I tried my best not to play anything at all most of the time, sports wasn’t and still isn’t my thing. When I couldn’t get out of it, the closest I ever got to baseball was “rounders”. I have no idea what the similarities or differences are – neither do I care!
I was aware that in the US of A baseball cards were a thing, I happily joined in with that, but with a twist. Until I went to the US I’d never even seen a baseball card, what I and my school friends had were “Star Wars Cards”! I had a full set of the blue edged ones that when laid out, back’s up, made a poster, a still from the film, and a collection of movie facts! I digress…
When wandering around the recent car show I went to, on the back of an American vehicle this was set up as a little splash of added “americana”. I liked it as it made me think of all of the above – I also thought it made a good still life, so I photographed it.
