The Nao Santa María

On a recent wander around Poole I discovered that the full scale replica of Columbus’ Santa María, was docked. Apparently it took nearly 100 people only 14 months to built. It’s certainly impressive at over 28 meters long and a beam of nearly 8. But looks can be deceptive – “an innovative system was applied in the field of historic vessel replica construction, combining fiberglass construction with a subsequent wooden coating“. So impressive if not traditional!

I used Ilford Delta 100, developed in D23 for 8 mins. The results were a tad over devloped I think so I’ll reduce to 7.5 mins for the next roll.

A while back the El Galeón Andalucía was here in exactly the same spot!
