A couple of weeks ago, just before Christmas, I needed to pop into the local town of Ringwood. It’s the opposite direction to my usual route, so although it’s close by I don’t go there that often. I thought I’d take the good old Pentax Spotmatic for a day out and make a few exposures of what caught my eye.

The 35mm f3.5 is a light small lens, but it’s a great performer. I have two Spotmatic bodies, both are working fine. I have had one in the past develop a faulty shutter where in, it would wind, cock the shutter, fire and release ready for winding on again, but without actually opening and closing the shutter blinds. In the end it turned out to be an easy fix, although not something I took on! Besides that, the Spotmatics have been kind to me – very inexpensive, good reliable bodies, well built, and optics that are terrific value for the money. The quintessential “under-rated” cameras set up.

This roll I developed in FX55 as I had some made up, it’s my usual FP4+ (movie film) that I’m working my way through, and I’m still pleased with the results.
