The day I had a walk around Dawlish Warren turned out to be a bright sunny day, even though it was mid-October. Bright enough that I decided I could use up my last roll of Pan-F from my film stash. There is talk with this film that the latent image degrades quite quickly once exposed, and that it should be developed as soon as possible after use. I think I agree with this. This roll I developed about a week after exposure and all was fine, I could see nothing that bothered me, I got good negatives with good density. What I did notice was that the edge numbers, burnt into the film at the time of manufacture, were almost gone! Maybe not a film to use on a long trip where you may not get around to developing it for a while!

I like Pan-F, I like it’s fine grain and it’s contrast. It’s certainly not as forgiving as FP4, and it certainly demands accurate exposure. In my opinion it doesn’t handle over exposure too well and enjoys underexposure even less! When I get the exposure correct, the film gives almost a “glow” – I think I see it in the image above.
