Dawlish

I still have another post to make about my visit to Exeter, but to have a little break I’m moving forward a day! I walked back to the same railway station as the day before, but took the train in the opposite direction. Down the estuary away from Exeter and along the coast to Dawlish. It was a beautiful sunny and warm day, hard to believe that it was October! Just as well, I’d used up the last of the three rolls of HP5 I’d brought along with me, so I moved on to FP4!

Dawlish these day’s is famous for it’s Black Swans. I saw them but failed to get a decent photo of them! Apparently they were introduced from Western Australia. It’s other fame is that the railway station to which I arrived, is right on the sea wall, and the tracks run right along the sea front. In bad weather the waves can go over the top of the train. A few years back part of the wall collapsed leaving the tracks, quite literally hanging in mid air! There is a video on You Tube should you wish to view here! Indeed there was a storm a week before my visit, but on this day, calm and beautiful! (More about the sea wall in a future post!)

After a wander around the town I was back to the sea and the railway station but not to catch the train, rather start of a 5 mile walk back. My camera of choice this trip was the Canon EOS 30, with the 40mm STM lens. I brought other lenses with me on the trip, but in the end never used them. The 40mm focal length seems to suit me well.
