Street Portraits

Street portraits is not something that I am particularly comfortable doing. However, inspired by Kenneth Wajda – check out his website here, I decided to push myself. I set out with a roll in my Zeiss folder – hoping that this may start a couple of conversations, loaded with FP4. I got a couple good shots, slightly cheated on a couple, and made a mess of a couple.

  1. I started a street portrait project a few years ago, with the intent of taking 100 pictures. I only ended up going out once though (and got nine usable pictures!).

    One-hundred people who I don't know #1

I find approaching strangers pretty challenging to do, and while all the people I did approach were perfectly nice, even those who declined to have their picture taken, I still felt quite awkward and I basically chickened out of doing it again.

As you say, you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone.

    1. Hello! I suspect it’s one of those “doing it often enough and you get used to it” kind of things! It’s not really my kind of photography but in a funny way, I found it much easier just making street photographs including people afterwards. Rather than trying to complete a whole roll next time, I may just try one per roll!! We’ll see!! Cheers Andy
