Continuing directly on from my last post, this delightful cottage borders the river Frome as it passes through Dorchester, or I suppose more accurately a diverted Mill Stream from it. The delightful “Hangman’s Cottage” is indeed where the hangman once lived. Indeed standing on his front door step could have seen the gallows when erected. Author Thomas Hardy witnessed one such hanging and write about his disgust of it!

The two images above were taken within feet of each other. The roof of “Hangman’s Cottage” just visible shows how close the mill stream passes the cottage, rotating 90 degrees right and on a few feet, a gap in the trees lives a view across the fields. Below the path carries on along the stream.

Just out of view in the photo above, is another house that is even closer to the stream. A little further on some allotments.

Further on again, amongst those trees in the background in the photo above, is a small local nature reserve, at the east end of it, is a large pond with a very bright orange lifebuoy – here I finished up the roll. I shall have to get out with the other roll and complete my circuit – perhaps next week!
