Last Sunday was a lovely day here in Dorset (UK), and after so many days of rain and dull weather I made a point of going out for a walk for an hour, mainly just to get a bit of exercise and fresh air. Of course I took a camera with me, if I hadn’t, all manner of things would have happened, right in front of me, this of course never happened. It’s like carrying a brolly, it only ever rains when I’ve forgotten it! It’s not that I need any more images of Poole or it’s harbour, I have plenty, but the light is different every time, and I just never know what I’m going to see!

I mentioned in an earlier post that I discovered a roll of film still in my Nikon F3. I don’t usually leave a partly used film in a camera. Often I’ll just make some images to finish it off. That said with the cost of film continually rising, I think I’m going to try to not do that so much, and if there are a couple of exposures left, wait until I see an image I want to make, rather than just click away. So this was the other half of the roll with Dorchester Heritage Day on the start from back in September!

As I wrote before I developed this roll in Ilfosol 1+9, rather than using the Rodinal I have on the go, certainly it shows much reduced grain, I’ll keep the Rodinal for the Pan F I have waiting to be used up, but that will have to wait for the light of the summer! Luckily Rodinal has a legendary storage life so that’s no problem.

Above is perhaps my favourite image from the walk, I’m assuming they are lobster pots. I’ve made similar images before but this I think, has a nice range of tones. Below is one of the historic houses that are on the “Poole Heritage Trail” that I wrote about here. There was something about this image that highlighted the converging verticals that I didn’t like, perhaps the slight side angle, so I did a quick photoshop fix.

I’ve been a bit off colour for the last couple of days, I’ve had some sort of bug. It sapped my energy to the point I even felt the need to take a day off work, lets just say that my bodily functions are now back in order, which is just as well as I’m having a long weekend, now just to decide which camera (s) to take!
