Leake Street Arches

I’ve just come back from a week in London! More about that in other posts, but today I wanted to share a discovery I made. Underneath Waterloo Station runs what could be called an underpass or tunnel, I think actually it’s a road and it’s known as “Leake Street Arches”. It has it’s own website here.

I enjoy graffiti when it’s good, doesn’t offend anyone, and adds rather than detracts from it’s surroundings. All of those criteria were met here – it’s not only legal it’s encouraged! I had to go see…

The image below shows how wide the street is. Most of the time I was photographing from one side to the other. I was mighty impressed by the reach of the tiny flash built into the Canon Ixus 155 – in fact a couple of times it was almost too much!!

Chatter: Canon Ixus 155, on fully auto setting. To give an idea, the image up three, of the guy holding the hammer, the exif data shows I was at 7mm (!), 400 iso at 20th sec at f3.2. I guess most were about the same.
