The City of London is mostly clustered around the “Bank” tube station, and the bank of England. Standing looking at “The Bank” is much as it’s been for decades, what rises behind it has changed greatly. The “Lloyds of London” (Insurance Company) building was begun in 1978, and finally opened in 1986. Interestingly it was built on the site that was once occupied by the East India Company, but most famous for having lots of it’s innards on the outside, much like the Pompidu Centre in Paris. The architect Richard Rogers, was involved with both. When I first started going to London with any regularity it was pretty much the only “skyscraper” there!
