35mm: Not the Wimborne Folk Festival

Back in June I had a week off work – at the end of that week was the Wimborne Folk Festival. I’ve caught the end of it before and always thought it would be good to have a day there. It’s advertised as being all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I loaded up a roll of Delta 400 into the Leica and set off.

Around the outskirts of the town seemed as busy as I expected – but managed to squeeze into a parking space for the day! A 10 minute walk saw me in the centre of town – nothing! No music, no people dressed in folk costume – nothing. It would appear that although the festival is being widely advertised as all day Friday, it’s nothing of the sort. It seems that is just to attract people into the town to be sold stuff. To be fair there were signs that something was going to happen later, much later. At a guess I’d say that the first event was late afternoon at the earliest.

With no programme published on the website, and in-accurate info on it one wonders what the point of it is? I won’t bother next year. However, lucking there was a market in full swing, I made a few images of shoppers doing there thing, and brought a carrier bag full of strawberries, at a silly low price, and spent the afternoon making a couple of pounds of jam!! (If you can make developer – you can make jam!).

I’m getting into using the Leica, and I’ve found that it is taking me a bit of effort using a rangefinder rather than an SLR. It’s a different tool for sure, but I’m enjoying it. I’ve also watched a few you tube video’s recently on developers and processing, and although I’ve been processing film for decades, I’ve learnt a few things over the spring – more on that in another post.

These were processed in Ilford Ilfosol3 1+9 at 21°c for 7 mins.
