The expression “f8 and be there” is most often attributed to Arthur Fellig otherwise known as “Weegee”. As well as being a snappy slogan, it’s actually quite clever as it encompasses the theory of depth of focus, and combines it with “being at the right place at the right time!”. I’ve been using my Pentax Spotmatic a bit recently, and was reminded of this when I dug out my 35mm f3.5.

I set the lens and went out snapping! The film was Ilford HP5.
