I walk past this sculpture most days on my walk from the car to work. It is in Durngate street in Dorchester and celebrates the “quiet heroism and wisdom of pastoralists”. It is by the artist John Doubleday. He seems to face the rising sun, and has his trusty dog at his feet.

I made these couple of photo’s with my “Choice of Camera” for February – the Nikon F3, as I become more familiar with it. The only real problem was the location of the figure. It is difficult to get a position without something distracting in the background. I opened up the lens and did my best!
