HP5 in the folder

As I sit here typing this, it’s pouring with rain and it has been for hours. Grey, dull, dismal! My walk around West Moors Country Park with my folding Zeiss 6×6 in the sun under a blue sky seems an age away.

This was a roll of HP5 which I developed in D23. Interestingly I developed it in the tank at the same time as a roll of 35mm. The 35mm looked a little over developed to my eye, while the 120 was fine. I am aware that generally 120 films have a thicker base, I didn’t think the emulsion was different. I’m confident that my exposures were correct on both, so in the new year I may do a small simple test to see if indeed 120 needs a little longer to develop than 35mm.
