I mentioned a couple of posts back that I took the Zeiss Ikon 517/16 out for a walk! I loaded up a roll of HP5 and set off. I choose HP5 as the weather was a bit iffy – and indeed as I left the car there were a few drops of rain. In the end the sun came out and it turned out to be quite a nice day. Apart from that, with this type of camera, handling is sometimes a bit awkward so a shutter speed of a healthy 100th is a much better choice than 30th, like wise, any lens works best around f8, older lenses especially. I made a few light meter readings (grass tends to be somewhere close to mid grey) made my setting and set off..

When I un-loaded the film it had gone slightly “fat”. That’s where it doesn’t wind tightly as it should and lets light to the film. I decided as it wasn’t too bad I would proceed to develop it. I did in D23, and although there was a little fogging where it shouldn’t be – it was contained to the non image areas. I also wondered if I’d had a “memory fart” and missed a wind on and double exposed two shots – turns out I didn’t do that either!
