Mini up-date of various “stuff”:
I found an old darkroom blue spirit thermometer where the liquid had become separated, most likely from being laid flat. I consulted You Tube, which suggested heating it to combine the liquid again and then letting it cool. I tried this and blew the end off! It’s amazing how far that tiny amount of liquid can splatter and how quickly it stains!

On a sad note Christchurch Priory that I just wrote about, was home to a nesting pair of Peregrines. The female has died of bird flu, the male has now also died and although not confirmed, seems most likely also from bird flu – they left three eggs that were found to be “not viable”.
On having a bit of a clear out I came across an old invoice from Wex cameras for a “brick” of 10 FP4 135-36’s. Almost exactly 4 years ago They were £5.05p each making £50:50 which meant free postage as it was over £50! I checked today and now they are £8:80 each – that’s an increase of give or take 74% in 4 years !!!! At that rate it will cost £80 a roll when I’m 100! Ektachrome? – don’t go there! With Trumps tariffs that may well be £80 a roll next month 🙂
Wow I just looked – it’s £39 a roll !!!!!!!! Madness!
Sad to hear about the falcons. 😦
That’s very expensive for Ektachrome. You can get a roll for a mere £25-ish be shopping around. Why not treat yourself to a couple of rolls while it’s cheap! Lol.
I’ve got a few rolls of 120 Ektachrome in the freezer (still in date, I think, which is surprising for me) that I bought privately for a much more reasonable sum a while back. Using it feels like running gold leaf through the camera!

Hi Nige!
Yeah shame about the birds, there is quite a big thing about bird flu around here now – especially around Christchurch.
Film seems to have gone mad recently, by which I mean there are some good deals (Bristol Cameras is pretty good right now), but then bonkers stuff – Amazon tonight A (as in one!) roll of Kodak Tri-X 135-35 £52:74!!!! At least it qualifies for free delivery lol Madness. Good old Ektachrome is a lovely film, and to be honest I can afford a roll or two if I wanted to, but there gets a point where it becomes a bit silly – the processing isn’t cheap either and even worse seems to take ages! It takes me right back to being 12 or 13 years old and Kodachrome or 5×7 printing paper, or indeed Ektachrome and making every shot count! That’s not such a bad thing maybe, restrictive though. Not that I ever expect to see it again but I do wonder what price Kodachrome might be if ever to come back. That I’d certainly use, but that would be “make every shot count”! I guess we are lucky to have choices – first world problems for sure!! – Cheers Andy
