While I was in Exeter I made a visit to the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum. It is on the campus of Exeter University. I’ve wanted to visit since I first heard about it. Back in the mid 80’s, I met the man himself, he seemed interested that a teenager would be videoing the proceedings. Somewhere I have a VHS-C tape!! Sadly he only made one feature film, Comrades, and part of it was filmed in and around Dorchester. I also had a brief chat with actor Michael Hordern, lovely man, and of course voice of Paddington’s original adventures on the BBC! Apart from making films, I had no idea that he was also a fan of cinema and had such a huge collection!
