Along time ago, in a garden far far away… I decided to grow a few sunflowers. They grew well and in due course flowered with massive blooms. The photo above was not taken with a macro lens, just my normal lens of the time at close focus. The film was Kodak Gold 400, I only know this as it’s edged marked – we are talking all of 25 years ago here! Strange I never thought to photograph them in bloom, only when the petals had dropped!
The sunflower has many meanings and cultural attachments around the world – in China, it is a strong symbol of good luck and lasting happiness for example. They are all variations on a theme: a splash of colour to brighten our lives – (Just like a Kodak film box!) and we could all use more of that! (Other films are available!)
